Social media has always been a popular method of communication for businesses as well as individuals. LinkedIn has recently added a new feature to make that communication more precise and trackable, their newsletter function. This tool makes it possible for brands to share information with existing and potential customers and employees even faster. 

LinkedIn explains,

“We continue to look for meaningful ways to connect as we navigate our new world of work, and that’s why we’re introducing Newsletters. A new way to build communities around topics that matter most to your customers with recurring Articles from your Page that members can subscribe to.”

This function allows businesses to increase page reach by sharing content outside their follower base. Audiences can subscribe to a newsletter, receive notifications when a new one is published, and opt-in to get email notifications for future updates. LinkedIn shared that initial testers of the newsletter function have seen a positive response. Zoom received subscriptions from 10% of its followers within the first 24 hours, and Insider gained 820,000 subscribers within the first 24 hours.

The process to publish a newsletter is fairly straightforward. Start out by selecting “Write Article” on your business page, then select “Create a newsletter.” You can then add in any content and images that you would like. When you select “Publish” it will post the newsletter to your feed and LinkedIn will notify your followers. After your newsletter is published you will have access to the analytics to measure performance and track subscriptions.
